What is Team BöNK?
Team BoNK is a sponsored Team Fortress 2 Clan based in California founded in October 2007. We competed in CAL, TWL, and STA:Highlander. We attend lans in California namely Ascendancy Gaming in San Francisco, where we are the two time Team Fortress 2 Champions.
How did BoNK Start?
BoNK started out with an idea to create a community that fosters respect and to create a competitive TF2 clan. Originally our team was going to be a Battlefield 2142 clan, when whisp asked CooLSpoT if he wanted to start a competitive team together. After that panned out, TF2 beta came out and we knew right away what type of team we wanted to start. Our clan name originates from the scout's taunt in TF2 ("Anyone counted my heads batted in? BONNK!")
Koopa (friend of Whisp's from a previous lan) joined right away. Shortly after, CooLSpoT had one of his friends (Juice) from the competitve Call of Duty 2 days joined up. Then Whisp spotted Atomsk in a server and the two got to talking and he joined. After a few weeks we picked up a few players that were active on our server, (Delwynndwn, Sever, Dr. Fibroid) Most of us got to meet at LANS and it only solidified our bond. The rest is history.
soo How do I join BöNK?
Register for the forum then follow the instructions under the "joining BöNK" thread. After you have made your post there be sure to come in our ventrillo
and try to get in a scrim with us so we can evaluate your skills. Be in vent all the time and play with us as much as possible. If you are up to par, and prove to be a reliable team mate and play OFTEN, you will be admitted to the clan. It is prefered that you live in California so you can attend lans. TIP* idle in our IRC channel #bonk and post here on our forums often!
Is there an Age requirment for the clan?
No. But please note that most of us in the clan are in our 20's so we certain level of maturity. It is advised you use a headset while on ventrillo so your parents don't hear some of the things we talk about and never let you play again. Another concern age wise is donating for the private server. Its $5 a month and you have to pay through paypal. Also for the lans we go to the minimum age is 16 with a signed parent waiver. So while there is no official age requirment, we prefer players in their 20's but if you own at TF2 it won't matter what age you are.
Does BöNK compete in games besides TF2?
Sometimes, but our main game and focus will always be a Team Fortress 2 clan only. We will however compete at lans in other games for fun, at Acendancy Gaming Lan and Sac Intel LanFest we have even won the Call of Duty 4 tournament. And of course we are all gamers so we play other games just for fun. A bunch of us play Warcraft 3: DotA when we are not playing TF2 Matches or Scrimming. Also Garrys Mod is popular sometimes among a few of us. And the ocassional Call of Duty 4.
We might have divisions of BöNK for other games in the future, but for now just TF2.
